State-of-the-art conveyor technology for PowerCo Sagunto (Valencia)

PowerCo, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, is building a state-of-the-art gigafactory for the production of battery cells in Sagunto near Valencia. This groundbreaking facility will be a central component of the European battery landscape and a key element in the Group’s sustainable mobility strategy.

As part of this pioneering project, the AFT Group has been awarded the challenging contract to supply state-of-the-art conveyor technology, including specialized chain conveyors, precision turntables, and a 700-meter-long EBB with eight high-performance vehicles. These innovative solutions ensure optimal material flow and enable highly automated production with maximum efficiency.

Production is scheduled to start in 2026 and reach a capacity of 40 GWh per year, with the possibility of later expansion to 60 GWh. The gigafactory will thus make a decisive contribution to meeting the growing demand for high-performance batteries for electric vehicles and strengthen European industry in global competition.

This major project plays a central role in Volkswagen’s electrification strategy and makes a significant contribution to the sustainable mobility of the future. Through the use of state-of-the-art technologies and a consistent focus on resource efficiency, the Gigafactory sets new standards in battery cell production.

The components supplied by the AFT Group are essential for an efficient and smooth material flow within the production facility. They make a decisive contribution to the automation and optimization of manufacturing processes, reduce manual interventions, and increase production reliability.

We are delighted to be making an important contribution to the realization of this state-of-the-art production facility with our innovative technology and thus actively shape the future of electromobility. This commitment once again underscores our commitment to providing pioneering solutions for industry and advancing sustainable production concepts.
