Successful implementation of a complex assembly line for SAF Holland

We implemented a complete assembly line for truck fifth wheels for SAF Holland – from design and manufacturing to commissioning.

The challenge:
An assembly line combining four manual and two fully automatic workstations. All manual stations had to be ergonomically designed and equipped with suitable tools and material feed systems. The customer’s specifications were limited to the work content – we were responsible for the entire planning and implementation.

Technical highlights:
✅ Four ergonomically designed manual workstations with screwdrivers and work step and material display on monitors
✅ Fully automatic station for checking the play of the lock with logging
✅ Automatic screwdriving station for bearing blocks
✅ Database-supported quality inspection and logging of all work steps, including torque control and serial numbers
✅ Roller conveyor system for automatic transport between stations, supplied by Wegener + Stapel
✅ Handling device on the gantry crane for safe attachment and removal of the fifth wheel couplings

The result:
A state-of-the-art system that combines efficiency and quality. After successful test production at our premises, the line was installed and commissioned in Düzce, Turkey.
